Getting started > Paste your data

Map your own data

The Discover France application allows you to map a wide range of indicators on diverse and varied themes. It also allows you to map your own data, simply by copying and pasting from your favourite spreadsheet.

This import function can be accessed for all geographical levels: municipalities, cantons, employment areas and departments. In order to produce your own map and explore your personal data from a geographical point of view, you will simply need to have a first column in your spreadsheet containing the department codes, followed by one or more columns of data.

Copy the set of data
Paste the set of data directly into the dedicated panel.
The data will be analysed and added to a new “imported data” theme.

All the features of its viewing and browsing interface,
as well as a large-size, high-quality printout
are just a click away.

For a comprehensive insight,
here follow detailed operating instructions:

The result of the import operation is described in the right-hand frame: number of lines correctly matched and number of variables according to type (integer, decimal or character).

If necessary, I can fine-tune the indicator definitions.

The three following display modes are offered:
- proportional circle analysis for integers,
- choropleth analysis (brackets) for decimals,
- analysis by individual values, for typologies.

For each indicator, I can specify an explicit value and its source.
For typologies, I can select the colours for each category.

I confirm the import by pressing the “OK" button.
