France découverte is an application based on Géoclip Server. It is freely available for academic and other non-commercial use. Redistribution, or commercial use, is not allowed.

The main assets of France découverte's atlas are:
Smooth navigation on the small and large scale for all of France
A wide array of public data that anyone can consult free of charge
Direct access to geodatabases without any GIS software on the server
Rich functionality of the Géoclip Server

The content of France découverte's atlas is going through an in-depth update:
Integration of several themes stemming from the results of the 2006 population census having to do with population, households and housing, along with 2007 legal population
Restructured database within a three tier tree structure (domains > themes > indicators)
instead of two
New graphical representations, including a population pyramid
New background geographical data from the year 2008 which includes France's overseas departments (DOM) and the arrondissements of Paris
New Lambert93 projection which conforms to the French standard RGF93
The database is updated continuously and we will continue to add new indicators as time goes by.

WMS already lets us load images from external sources. Now, France Découverte also integrates the TJS norm, which facilitates the exchange of statistical data geo-referenced between several servers.
