The button is used to load a WMS layer like a complementary layer.
Several WMS services are offered by default, such as BRGM [French public institution involved in the earth science field], SANDRE [French data reference centre for water], GéoLittoral [French coastal data service], etc. By way of example, the GéoLittoral server allows users to display the extent of tides in the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel (pictured opposite).
As soon as users select a WMS server, they can access a list of available layers in the form of a tree structure. In addition to each layer, each server may offer a key and additional information. Users can access any type of WMS server, with live reprojection if required.
Our Discover France demonstration is itself WMS server-based and can be found at the following address: http://www.geoclip.fr/danseuse/GC_wms.php
