How does a project progress with Géoclip?
Management module
It must be possible to update the database as often as necessary.
The database administrator enjoys complete autonomy in terms of
developing the database content. To this end, the database administrator
has access to a management module,
which is also produced using Flash and can be accessed from a
simple browser.
Management information is read
from and written to the database by this module. It can be used
to create new indicators with descriptions of all associated metadata.
It can also be used to add any new thematic analysis, to modify
the parameters of an existing analysis (number of categories and
colours, etc.) or to set the type and content of displayed items
(titles, caption labels and compulsory notices, and so on).
This module can also be used to consult tool
usage statistics based on indicator and date (data exports,
consultation and printing, and so on). It also has a tool which
converts base maps from their original format (Shape or MapInfo)
into the format of the database, so that they can be updated or
the geographic information can be supplemented.
Delivery
The product is delivered as a set of files: MySQL database, PHP
scripts, SWF compiled Flash files, described in a technical
document which covers administration of the application.
It is generally accompanied by installation
help and/or training
on the administration of the application.
Once the application has been verified, tested and validated
on the work server it is ready to be installed on the definitive
server. It fits easily into a pre-existing environment; installation
basically involves placing a set of files on the server, which
is just as simple as copying and pasting them.
